This scholarship means a lot to me for the fact that it will help with future debt. As I become gradually older, I realize how royally unprepared I am for the mere concept and experience of adulthood. My entire life I wanted to earn the respect of the grown-ups because I might get stuck in a position I cannot escape. Now that I am eighteen, I realize that I have not gotten all of it figured. I barely understand how college will work out, let alone everything else for that matter.

I see this scholarship as a step in the right direction. While it definitely cannot pay off my first semester, it will help take care of a portion of it. Knowing that I did all I could to at least receive a reward, this only proves what I’ve been taught over the years: hard work, persistence,
and dedication will eventually pay off. Since that has been recognized this year, I am truly grateful to take home this wonderful achievement. I am confident this will lead to a fulfilled life and a wholehearted legacy.
